Wyley came to Van Zandt Co., TX after the Civil War. He served as a corporal in Co. A, 3 Alabama Reserves. His brothers Ephraim and Austin came to TX earlier and also made their homes in Van Zandt Co.

Nathaniel Hughes DOBBINS was orphaned at an early age and was raised by his Uncle Drury DOBBINS. Nathaniel's grandparents were:
William DOBBINS b. 17 Feb., 1740 in Granville Co., NC, d. 23 Sep., 1814 in Rutherford Co., NC, married to __?__ about 1760, Susannah b. 27 Feb, 1738, d. 1 May, 1832.
William DOBBINS was a Revolutionary War Patriot.
Harriet Smith BURNS b. 1 June, 1811, d. 11 Mar., 1875, buried in Blue Eye Cemetery, Talladega, AL.
Her parents:
Benjamin BURNS b. 1780, NC, d. 1859, Benton Co., AL, married 7 Apr., 1803 to Susannah SMITH, Rutherford Co., NC.
Benjamin BURNS served in the War of 1812.
Susannah SMITH's father was James SMITH, a native of Scotland.
Nathaniel Hughes DOBBINS left NC in 1820 traveling by covered wagon to settle in TX. Nathaniel never made it to TX, but several members of his family eventually settled there. He and Harriet raised a family of fifteen children and gave a home to orphaned nephews, John Jesse and Jim DOBBINS. Some of the names of their children: Evaline, Henderson, William, Doren, Benjamin, James, Bradford, Margaret, Jenkins and Drury.
